Thursday will be anything but business as usual. #UberKITTENS are back, and they just want to get their paws in the door. Request and a few furry friends will visit your office. You can hold them, test their skills (they are excellent paper shredders), and even take them home if they pass the interview stage.
HOW IT WORKS:

Pets Helping People - Cats Against Cancer Has Raised Nearly 8 Million
When Kathy Elsey was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, the second most common blood cancer, she and her husband Dr. Bruce Elsey, co-founders of Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat, knew they had a unique position to combine corporate success with a bigger mission - enabling pets and their owners to participate in the fight against cancer.
Through the Cats Against Cancer Campaign nearly $8 million dollars has been raised to help the MMRF drive advancements in cancer research and find a cure.

Meet the Lykoi cat: a relatively new breed that's been making a splash on the web for its striking and slightly spooky resemblance to a werewolf. With its dark, scraggly coat and nearly hairless face and paws, the Lykoi's presence in the home could certainly make it feel like Halloween year-round.

Museum throws retirement party for its beloved cat
A Canadian community comes together to heap love and gratitude on a cat - Erik the Red wandered on to the the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic's CSS Acadia in 1999 and quickly became a permanent fixture on the Halifax docks. He established himself as both the ship's rodent control officer and an incredibly popular unofficial greeter --- meeting commuters coming off the ferry every morning with many stopping to pet him, bring him treats or snap photos. He also made friends in nearby shops - of course any store with a comfy stack of t-shirts was a favorite.
CFA dips into feline health care sector
PHUKET: The team behind the Chaofa Andaman (CFA) Pet Hospital has stepped forward to corner the feline segment of the pet healthcare market by opening Thailand's first-ever cat-specific hospital next to their existing business on Chaofa East Road in Chalong.
Open since July 2010, CFA Pet Hospital grew increasingly aware that cats were more stressed than other animals while visiting their clinic and saw the need to open a separate facility for them. "It's in a cat's nature to be independent. However, they are easily stressed when they smell other animals, particularly dogs," says CFA veterinarian Sasithorn Trairatthanom.

Pet owners love to pamper their cats. They want to keep their pets cozy, so it is important to offer comfortable beds and furniture that cat owners can enjoy viewing in their living spaces.
Mark Strayer, principal designer at Sauder Woodworking Co. in Archbold, Ohio, said that industry trends show pet owners are looking for the best, highest-quality products. The company's consumer research shows that nearly 80 percent of millennial pet owners regard their pets as family members, and 76 percent would buy certain items for their pets before buying something for themselves, Strayer said.
"Today's pet owners believe their pets should be pampered, resulting in owners buying products that demonstrate a sense of sophistication and style," he said. "Owners prefer products that fit their lifestyle and have clean lines, modern designs and soft fabrics." Consumers are looking for products for their cats that fit with their décor, not something that they feel they have to hide away if guests come over, said Kate Benjamin, an e-tailer and the founder of Hauspanther, an online magazine for design-conscious cat owners.

After taking a bite of something bitter you might want to spit it out. And your cat might do the same. But Fluffy might be expressing more than just being a picky eater. Cats can taste bitterness too, says a new study.
In fact, domestic cats have at least seven kinds of functional bitter taste receptors, according to the paper published Wednesday in the journal PLOS ONE. (By comparison, humans have 25 or so.) Taste receptors, proteins that trigger a signal when a substance encounters the receptor, are necessary for animals to experience taste.
This Japanese City Created a Street View for Cats (and for Humans, Too)
Over in the magical land of Japan, the tourism board of Hiroshima prefecture has created street view for cats.
That's right-a site that offers a cat's-eye look at the city of Onomichi and its restaurants and shops. Japan, like the rest of the Internet, loves its cats. Not only are they lucky, but there are shrines devoted to them, cat cafés where you can enjoy petting them, and an entire island reserved for them.
In fact, most shops in Japan have a Maneki-neko-a welcoming cat statue-at the door to beckon visitors inside, so it's not surprising that a lot of them have actual cats as well. And when you find out that Onomichi is also known for its excessive volume of cats and has a whole museum devoted to Maneki-neko dolls, it becomes clear why the tourism board would seek to capitalize on the welcoming power of its feline friends.
